AFFILIATE LINK DISCLOSURE: Friends, making a quality Loloho video is kind of like making sausage - only slightly more violent. It's a ridiculous amount of work that typically involves high dollar camera drops, blue-screen-of-death computer crashes, and at least one angry shotgun wielding old man shouting, “Hey! Get the hell outta here!” Once the final video is posted, rewards here on PLcinema are few and far between (unless you are a masochist who enjoys being verbally abused by anonymous trolls). One saving grace is our affiliate links. JUST CLICKING THESE LINKS HELPS TO SUPPORT OUR LITTLE SHOW. Think of this clicking as like tipping - except that it doesn't cost you anything extra! If you eventually make a purchase via one of our affiliate links, we will receive a few pennies (and Sean typically invests these pennies in duct tape and video gear). Again, it doesn't cost you anything to click these links, and it's a great help to us. As always, safe travels, happy camping, and THANK YOU!

30 years with AAA plus, so I guess we'll learn about their service, assuming I don't lift the camper with one hand and change the tire with the other. That's how I do it 'cause you know, I'm not a sissy.

You still have to have the plus....with AAA, which we have.....I'm surprised that you weren't told the circumstances of RV Roadside Assistance thru AAA.....I was explained and upgraded to Plus, and got the RV Roadside asst. as I had been a AAA member for about 18 years.....and that's AAA of Alabama..

I used my AMA (American Motorcycle Assoc.)membership when my truck broke down last month. You might want to see if your insurance company has a limit on how far they will tow you. I was thinking of going back to AAA, not sure.

Another excellent video guys. just a thought, how about taking a ratchet strap hooking on one side then going up and double wrap around a seatpost going to the second bike and double wrap around that seat post and then down to the other side and a couple ratchets.I believe that would eliminate you're swaying and vibration and the damage to the forks. I also believe it would be just minimal extra work to get it off.

As a retired State Trooper, my best advice to you when you are broke down on a busy interstate highway or in a dangerous spot or especially if your rig is blocking any part the driving lanes is to immediately call the State Police or Highway Patrol. We would much rather come to your assistance than handle the massive wreck that might be caused by your breakdown. Depending on the state and the location you may have to wait awhile, but we usually will get there. Also, as we call tow services all the time for crashes from cars to tractor trailers, we know which tow services can assist you best. Just something to keep in mind. . Of course if you have a couple hundred kilos of cocaine in your motor home, you may not want our assistance, and yes, that really did happen. We called a tow truck and got the Rvers several decades of free overnight lodging. Enjoy your travels.

I believe Companies that work with AAA aren’t allowed to work with other providers. So if in the area most are working with AAA then good Sam can partner up with them. What I’ve been told. I could be wrong.

Sorry your information about AAA is incorrect. Membership whether basic - plus or premier only provided service to the member and the car they are with. AAA RV can be added for the service for your RV or trailer. After listening to how annoyed you were - I would say you need to pay attention to what you purchase - AAA membership has always had the add on for RV service - the basic -plus or premier membership has never covered a trailer or RV.. Your Good Sam story I see the problem when they don’t have a contract station in the area of your breakdown. You posted a taped conversation and then discussed a hypothetical problem. And you were offered reimbursement and you were reimbursed. It makes your video sound like you to are using this as a way of getting back when you didnt get your way. Your video doesn’t offer any truth about trailer tow service. You even went on to say you finally purchased the correct service from AAA but didn’t use it during the year - and didn’t renew. So your opinion is AAA isn’t worth it unless you need it - then they are bad guys when they won’t let you buy it when your broken down......

You are taking comments out of context, and also incorrectly inferring opinions that were never stated. This video honestly and accurately recounts our experiences with these different companies. We are not trying to "get back" at any company. You know, if we concealed the disappointing experience with Good Sam RA then we would be accused of kowtowing to a large company and/or concealing the truth of the event. In my opinion, we took it pretty easy on Good Sam (we only offered a brief snippet of a thoroughly disappointing experience, when we could have shown much more). If you browse the comments beneath this video, you will get a good cross-section of other consumers' experiences. Feel free to ignore our experiences if you wish.

Update on Triple A........ We broke down along side of Rt. 81 in West Virginia & called AAA. After all we paid EXTRA to get full service towing on the 38' fifth wheel. Long story short; we got plenty of "I'm sorry" but no help. They are a service that should have Big Rig towing service already lined up. They are nothing but a service to help with a flat tire....MAYBE. Cannot recommend!

I have been in the Tow industry for over 12 years and Auto Clubs like AAA and Good Sam etc will pay a preset amount for services such as tire repair and Tows. The problem they run into is finding a tow company who willing to provide the service for the amount they are willing to pay. Most tow companies are not willing to send a truck out for a Auto club that will pay barely enough to cover coast of that tow when they have other calls on screen that will pay enough to make it worth it. For example: You were able to find a tow right away for $80. AAA for example would have only been willing to pay the tow company $45 for that same tow.

I'm looking at those tyres and they all look like you didn't pay attention to the temperature as they heated up. They had plenty of tread on them. How is it that they blew so badly? I saw you had a tyre pressure gauge in side the cabin. Those tyres exceeded the their wall pressure.

I bought the AAA service years ago, it may have improved since then, but I was running late for work, found a flat on my car. My wife didn't have to be at work for a few hours later, so we called AAA and I took her car. AAA called her back about one hour later and told her they would be unable to come to where the car was (Our residence), due to the fact the road they normally used was closed and would require they drive about one mile further. Seriously...I canceled my AAA. Many years later, traveling in our motorhome, had Good Sams roadside assistance, we had a very dangerous mechanical failure (loss of brakes) but thankfully was able to safely get off of the interstate. There was a campground at the end of the interstate ramp, thank you. I called Good Sam roadside assistance late in the afternoon (~6pm) and ask for a tow tomorrow morning. Tomorrow morning came, and when I called to see why no-one had arrived, they began a three hour song and dance as to they were having trouble finding someone. I finally let them know I wasn't happy in a very nice way, and suddenly they found someone. I had no previous calls to the roadside service. When the guy arrived, he finally looked at me rather funny and told me, they told me you were going to be very difficult due to being very angry. He said, are you sure you are the one they told me about? I laughed and told him, I guess that must have been what they told your company to get you to come out. We left good friends.

the problem is with the good sams and coach nets and insurance companies all contracting their dispatches thru second party dispatch companies. those companies ( theres only couple or so) contract with certain towing companies to tow in certain areas, and at a hugely discounted rate that can be billed to them. The dispatch company will not call anyone but the tow companies on their approved list or will call out of dispatch approved companies and only offer the discounted pay rate. at 3pm its right before the 5 oclock rush, no tow guys will give up the better money to do a discounted tow.

Awesome video! While camping in the Eastern Sierras this past August 11th, the 5th wheel hitch in our truck broke and we could not move our 30 foot 5th wheel trailer. A call to Good Sam Roadside Assistance turned into the most incredible 'Charley Foxtrot' (military parlance for Cluster F***) over the next 8 hours. Initially we were denied assistance because we were in a campground and not on the side of the road. After much back and forth, we agreed to a dispatch of a tow truck to move our trailer 100' to a storage location in the campground for $200.00. By the end of our call, the dispatch of a tow vehicle was cancelled and the dispatcher provided me with telephone numbers to vendors that did not respond or did not tow 5th wheels. No help for our hitch, no suggestions for replacement, just left us twisting in the wind. As luck would have it, the Camp Ground Host helped us move our trailer to the storage area of the campground and we drove home. Upon purchasing the new part at our home town 400 miles away, we turned around and picked up our trailer. Upon our arrival home, I leaped into a rabbit hole to find out why we were not helped by the Good Sam Roadside Service we paid for. After several days of my time and effort, I found the email of the CEO 'If you're not happy, I'm not happy' Marcus Lemonis. Ultimately we received partial compensation. Despite my requests, I have yet to hear back or get an understanding of why this happened. As an avide RV'er, reliable roadside service is important. Good Sam Roadside Service let us down. Without an explanation.

I recently got a tow from Good Sam for my converted Skoolie (titled as an RV) because it was overheating. The skoolie aspect causes further complications, for instance, AAA seems to be hit and miss on whether they will tow a skoolie (even if they acknowledged the skoolie when you purchased the policy). Several other roadsides services will automatically say no for skoolies. This was 30 miles north of Cheyenne, and at 30k GVWR, it would be an expensive tow. So called good sam, and they had problems because my vehicle isn't in their script (what is your engine. International [or Navistar], that isn't in my list of options....) But eventually they agreed I needed a tow not a mobile service, and it will be 2 hours for the tow. They call back every now and then and repeat 2 hours for a tow. So finally got the tow at about 5-6 hours on the side of the road (glad I had a generator, AC, and a fridge with cold beverages because it was brutally hot). As one of the other commenters mentioned, I basically think they are calling around and trying to get a tow for a ridiculously cheap rate and when a vendor doesn't agree, they just call the next one. Which is why I think you had that problem with good sam, no one agreed to tow for the rate they were willing to pay. They had called to warn me that my policy only covered a tow to the nearest shop that can work on it (not necessarily the closest "qualified" shop to work on it) and that shop was unable to work on it for a week. [Not sure if that really qualifies as "can work on it". Since my bus is of commercial vehicle size, they have to send the Semi based wrecker, and lift the front tires and that means the driveshaft must be disconnected (on most vehicles) The tow truck guys dropped me off at this shop good sam had picked (funny that shop had a tow truck service too, but apparently didn't bite for the tow job). They dropped the bus off, but I had to get my leveling blocks out, otherwise they were going to dent my oil pan disconnecting. They reconnected the driveshaft, but didn't both to even fully insert the u joint bolts all the way back in. (be sure to check your is they ever have to do this kind of tow. That shop sat on my RV for a month and hadn't touched it, I finally just drove the multiple hours to where it was at, fixed it myself, and drove it home. Good Sam had no followup after the tow truck guys came to determine if my vehicle had successfully been recovered or repaired. So in the end, not a great experience, but I didn't have to pay for what was probably a $500-$1000 tow.

Oh and Good Sam relayed to me that I would be unable to stay in my RV for the (quoted) week before they would look at the RV. Imagine if I hadn't had my motorcycle with me and my ability to continue to travel, what a month of hotels would have cost waiting for them to work on it.

I have had the AAA+ for several years for my personal vehicle (No RV yet...) and there is a maximum of 4 service calls per year. Enjoyed your video very much and have subscribed to your channel.

Great video. Love rainy day Sunday mornings. So tires, need to find your tire video as they are a concern of mine as there is so much verbiage on them, second, roadside assistance, we have both Good Sam and AAA. The AAA limits the number of times you can use but we also have State Farm so going to check into that as did not know. Thanks and safe journeys

I worked for a tow company. Companies like good sam, cross country find small companies and only pay them $20 to $25 dollars for these service calls. Most of the companies will do flats, jumpstarts but tows they turn down. Not worth the $20 payment. If I were you, I would get the AAA Premier Card. They will tow up to 200 miles. Regarding tires blowing, most of the time it is from over-inflated tires and driving in the heat. Over inflating the tires with gain 10 to 20 pounds of air while driving. You don't fill them to the rating on the side of the tires, you fill them 10 to 15 pounds below it. Trust me on the AAA premier, AAA will not stop until they have you taken care of you. Another thing you can do if your broken-down is call the police. Let then know you are in a hazardous situation. Ask them to respond to your break down area for traffic control safety. They will have a truck out to you within minutes. To sum it up, everybody pulling an RV, make sure you get AAA Premier. I am sorry you had that problem. Especially in Napa where I live.

Are you saying if you got AAA premier they will tow your rv regardless? I had regular and wanted a tow and he asked if I put anything beside stock I was hones and said I have added. He calls in and say the truck old and we are allow not to tow if the van not stock modified. And I when down the next day and she said that true we don't do modified weight beyond stock. She didn't tell me about premier upgrade. It they will tow I don't mind the added price.

my stepdad was in the tow truck business and as professional as he was, a drive looking at what he was doing instead of the road hit him the car and drug him over 10 miles before he somehow was let go from being tangled up by this person and they continued to take off, he survived but was permanently messed up for life was on touch and go cling to life so it is EXTREMELY dangerous , Id do the same as you two are doing call someone cause at least you all can help keep a watch and maybe set things up ware people won't end up hitting you all, it also happened to another friend of mine who had a flat tire and was changing his own tire when someone came along and drug him for miles down the road .

Thank you for sharing this info. You're my fav nomadic couple on YT by the way. This helps your viewers in more ways than one because #1--there are many nomads who travel alone (single women), and #2--you were in a dangerous situation on the side of that road exposed (ie. road ragers, psychotic robbers, etc). Good Sam should change their name to Bad Sam!

I got stranded by AAA RV Plus, just 12 miles north of Riverton, WY, when an inner dually tire exploded (BTW it was the same Michelin tire you recommended. 3 years old with 26,000 miles). 1.5 hours after AAA said they were coming, they called and said they couldn't change an inner dually, and couldn't tow me either, if they couldn't pull it. I was left to find someone to come out by myself.

On the tires; I'm a big fan of the Maxxis 8008 tires. Much higher speed rating, & work great on my 38' fifth wheel. On the RV roadside assistance; I've got Triple A....Twice good service; once BAD service. Good thing I checked the lug nuts myself! Thanks for your info.

I have spent good money for the Good Sam's roadside assistance myself and now it is Gander RV and the same thing happened to me. I did not call back to get reimbursed. So I to pay for another service. As a paying customer, we should not have to fill out paperwork and jumping through hoops to get our money back when we pay a company to do this for us.

Your last experience with GoodSam Roadside Assistance is nearly identical to ours. We had a leaf spring break on I-25 in Wyoming. We needed a tow or a mobile tech. GoodSam was unable to find anybody. We discovered that they have no one on retainer or under contract. They just call around and give up after a few service providers say "no". I talked to a tow operator about a year after that experience and he confided that GoodSam is absolutely the cheapest and slowest on reimbursement of anybody out there. They will no longer work with them., He said that many of the operators that still do work with GoodSam will deprioritize GS jobs until they have a tech free up. That can mean waiting hours more than simple first come first serve.

I have nothing but good to say about our experience with AAA,(bcaa, caa). I've had 4 50-100 mole tows on our 2004 6 litre Ford F350. First the egr cooler blew about 50 miles from Calgary, then on the way home the starter went needing a 50 mile tow to cranbrook. This was with a 11ft camper. The next one was the turbo blowing resulting in a 90 mile tow to BC Diesel for the bomb-proofing fix. The last one was with our 26ft trailer, a fuel line cracked in the Sonora desert, the tow truck driver delivered us to the street behind the Ford dealer where we slept and then took our truck in for repairs. If I'm still driving at 100 yrs, they still won't have broken even!

AAA left us stranded when we got locked out of our Airstream...... just went outside to clean something with the hose, and tried to get back in and boom! Locked out. AAA half heartedly tried to find a locksmith, but told us if we found one, they would reimburse us. HUH? Out in Ohio in a state park, we couldn't find anyone on a Sunday to come out. So we went to a hotel and waited for Monday, and we drove to Columbus, OH to have an airstream dealer make us a copy.... BTW, we keep one OUTSIDE the rig now!

Thanks for the info / perspective. I would contribute the following.... I discourage running down the road with a flat on 1 of the rear wheels.... especially when in a hot climate region. The damage that can be caused by a super heated flat tire can be massive (by it eventually flying apart &/or if it gets hot enough to catch fire). Not worried about man-card stuff but sometimes the risk of me changing the flat & getting us out of a highly dangerous position was less than waiting in that spot for a professional to arrive. Devil's always in the details for sure.

We had an issue with GSam as well. We had gotten stuck parking at a church after heavy rains the night before we were to pull out. This was in a small town in IL and we were perhaps 10' off of a side road! Due to the ground being so soppy, we couldn't back over the sidewalk. GSam would not help since it was private property. All it took was a few calls to find a local towing co. that came out with super huge transfer tow truck that had a wench. Once the attendant had attached to our rig, it took maybe 20 seconds! We eventually were reimbursed by GSam, but were disappointed that they couldn't come out. We have them, but only because of a sale price!
